MINECOST SUBSCRIBER REPORT FOR DECEMBER-JANUARY 2009
=====================================================

MODEL UPDATES
-----------------------

All models for operating mines have been updated for 2008 input costs, prices and exchange rates, with estimates for 2009. These updates incorporate the price crash in late 2008.
Forecast model years are in 2009 dollars, with the forecast horizon extended to 2012

Cost Curves Updated
---------------------
ALl cost curves have been updated. The 2008 and 2009 cost curves have been re-estimated to incorporate the model updates and the price crash in late 2008. The 2009 cost curves are in 2009 dollars and assume a general 60% fall in the price of oil and ocean freight rates, apart from general cost changes in 2009 resulting from exchange rate fluctuations and apparent declines in chemicals and other costs. The big swings in acid costs have had a major impact on the copper cost curves for 2008 and 2009.

View all these updates and additions on the mines download lists and on the Cost Curves pages.
