Edit Variables

The Editable versions of the models allow the user to change most of the operating variables used in the model. These include ore and waste production, ore milling rates, ore grades, concencentrate grades and metal production, plus input prices, exchange rates, product prices, treatment and refining charges, offsite shipping, selling expenses, royalties and other offsite costs. Users can also select which mine products are main products, co-products or by-products.

The models also contain a block of editable variables we call Efficiency Factors. These allow the user to change mine labor and mill labor productivities, diesel, electricity and consumables usage, plus adjustments for drilling conditions in open pit mines and ground conditions for underground operations. At the mill, users can now change the ore work index. The ability to change these efficiency factors now allows the user to adjust for most discrepancies between the model assumptions and the actual conditions at the mine.

About the only thing you can't change in the editable models is the flowsheet, which remains fixed according to the assumptions we have built into the model for the particular operation. Our credit policy on corrections to onsite mining and milling costs remains the same for the numbers as supplied in the model.

The ability to change key model variables allows users to test mine economics against different price and production scenarios and dramatically increases the flexibility of the models. But if you don't need or want the edit facilities, you can always download a half-price non-editable version of the model using our standard assumptions. These non-editable models come without the model formulas and are normally projected only to the current year or next year. The non-editable, no formulas models cost about half price, and users who download the no-formulas version can always upgrade to the editable model for the price difference.

Customising the Models

Since the Editable models come with all the formulas, you can modify any or all of the displayed pages as required. Bankers can add debt service schedules and calculations to show debt coverage and other ratios used by project financiers. Equities analysts can add routines to calculate earnings per share. Anyone can do forecasts under different operating and price assumption, and you can even extend the forecast horizon out to 2010 by simply copying the last column in each sheet to the right.

The only thing you can't change is the basic model structure specially set up according to the flowsheet for the particular operation.
